From Ringstead village this walk climbs to the alternative car park and viewpoint for spectacular coastal views. From the viewpoint the walk continues to Burning Cliff then along the South West Coast Path back to Ringstead village.
It has been known for oil in the rocks of the cliffs to catch alight. Between 1826 and 1830 the part now known as Burning Cliff burned or smouldered providing a spectacle for tourists.
Ringstead is sign posted off the A353 from Weymouth towards Wareham. After leaving the A353 take the second turning to the right down the toll road to Ringstead village. Pay the toll at the kiosk next to the car park.
