Old Wardour Castle is situated near a lake in the beautiful Witshire countryside near Ansty. It was built in the late 14th century by John Lord Lovel as a fortified but luxurious residence. The castle was besieged in turn by both sides during the Civil War, and badly damaged.
Follow English Heritage signs to Old Wardour Castle from the A30 between Shaftesbury and Salisbury.
