Castle and Beach, Abbotsbury, Dorset

This popular circular walk from Abbotsbury starts by taking a footpath up Wears Hill. It then follows the ridge along to Abbotsbury Castle where you will get spectacular inland and coastal views. After the castle the walk goes downhill towards Chesil Beach via East Bexington Farm. The walk then returns to Abbotsbury via the South West Coast Path along Chesil Beach.

See the detailed walk directions.

It is well worth spending some time exploring the Iron Age fort known as Abbotsbury Castle. Its double ramparts enclose 4 acres in an unusual triangular shape. Inside there are outlines of a number of round houses.

Please check our walk preparation guide.
