Castell y Bere, Gwynedd, Wales
Castell y Bere is a castle built between 1220 and 1230 by the Welsh Prince Llywelyn the Great. The castle fell to the English in 1283 during King Edward I's conquest of Wales. The castle was abandoned by the English garrison in 1294. Today the castle is a ruin offering fine views of the Cader and Dusynni valleys. Visit the castle before starting either of the walks.
Follow signposts to Castell y Bere car park from Abergynolwyn (approximately 6 miles from Tywyn on the B4405).
